Summer Non-Credit Programs

HWDSB Continuing Education is offering in-person language classes at sites across Hamilton for elementary students.  Classes are 2.5 hours per day.  Programs run Monday to Friday from July 6-31, 2026.  See Languages, Locations & Times (below) for additional information.

Confirmations:  Class registration confirmations will be emailed in late June.

Fees: A $25 materials fee will be charged for each course registration for consumable materials.

Registration for Summer International Languages Elementary (ILE) 2026 opens on February 2, 2026.

Registration for Summer International Languages Elementary (ILE) 2026 closes on June 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Students not currently attending an HWDSB elementary school can register by following these steps:

STEP 1:  REGISTER AS AN HWDSB STUDENT  

• Deadline: May 31, 2026, 11:59 p.m. with all required documents provided – NO EXCEPTIONS
• CHOOSE THE CORRECT YEAR:
  • Select the 2025-2026 school year for programs beginning before August 31, 2026.  
• CHOOSE THE CORRECT GRADE:
  • Select your current grade
• CHOOSE THE CORRECT SCHOOL:
  • Continuing Education Elementary
• UPLOAD DOCUMENTS WITH YOUR FORM:
  • NOTE: Students registering for Continuing Education do NOT need to show their documents.  Uploading them is sufficient.

STEP 2:  Complete the ILE Program Application Form

Eligibility:

Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 students who are eligible to attend school for free in Ontario are eligible to participate in the ILE Program. 

Students are eligible to attend one class in any one language during the summer session.  They can, however, take a second class in a different language without paying any additional fees for program instruction. For example: A student can attend Arabic classes in the morning, and Korean classes in the afternoon at no additional charge.

Fees:

A materials fee of $25 per participant per course enrolment applies. 

If you wish to enroll your child in more than one class in the same language, a fee of $130 per student per additional course is applicable.  For example: A student can attend one Arabic class in the morning for a $25 material fee and a second Arabic class in the afternoon for a program fee of $130 for the second class. 

Fees can be paid through the SchoolCash system.
